At Maker Llama, we’re always on the lookout for great, family-friendly games, and the Llama Drama Card Game is just that! Plus … it has llamas! WINNER!!

The deck:

The Llama Drama deck is made for 2-4 players, ages 7 and up. Add a second deck, and you can play with 5-8 players. It includes 4 sets of 14 cards, numbered cards 1-9 and 5 Special Llama cards. There are also two identical instruction cards to bring players up to speed on the game rules.

Gameplay:

Each player has three face-down cards and three face-up cards on the table in front of them. They are dealt a hand of five cards. The remaining cards are placed in the center of the table and become the draw pile.

Each time cards are played, the players must draw cards to build their hand back up to 5 cards. When the draw pile is emptied and players no longer have cards in their hand, they must play the face-up cards in front of them and finally the face-down cards. The first player to play all of their cards is the winner and gets LLAMA bragging rights!

Rules:

The rules are very simple. Each player must play a card of the same or higher number value than the card on the top of the discard pile. Special Llama cards have special powers, which are conveniently written on the face of the card (my kind of simple rules, I’m telling ya!!).

One thing no player wants to experience is being unable to play a card. When this happens, the player must pick up the discard pile. Yikes! I’ve seen this result in a TON of llamas in the hand … which means the hope of going out first can be dashed. But, what’s so fun about Llama Drama is the llama tables can turn quickly, and those once holding all the cards can orchestrate a reversal of fortune with just a bit of llama magic.
